Our Baby Room and Baby Care at Wellingborough and Irchester

A practitioner and baby during sensory play at Pop-Up Nurseries

Babies at Pop-Up Nurseries are cared for in small, cosy groups by a dedicated team, with every practitioner holding specific baby-focused training. Each baby has a key worker who leads small group learning times each session, alongside daily sensory experiences designed for their stage of development. Nappies, wipes, and formula are included in our consumables, so you do not need to pack these separately. Baby care looks slightly different at each of our settings: Wellingborough has a dedicated Baby Room, while Irchester offers a baby area within our pack-away village hall setting.

What Is the Baby Room Like at Wellingborough?

Wellingborough Baby Room

Our Wellingborough nursery, at 178 Finedon Road, NN8 4AH, has a dedicated Baby Room for children from 6 months to around 2 years old. It is a small, cosy space designed specifically around babies' routines and pace, separate from our toddler and pre-school rooms. Wellingborough is open 51 weeks a year, Monday to Friday, from 7:30am to 6pm, giving families a consistent baby care option across the whole year, including school holidays.

What Baby Care Looks Like at Irchester

Baby Care Irchester

Our Irchester nursery, based at Irchester Village Hall, NN29 7AW, welcomes babies from 9 months old. As a pack-away setting, Irchester does not have a physically separate baby room in the way Wellingborough does. Instead, babies have their own dedicated baby area within the setting, set up fresh each session with age-appropriate resources and a calm, defined space. From April 2026, Irchester operates on a term-time basis, 38 weeks a year, in line with North Northamptonshire school term dates, with main hours of 8am to 4pm.

How We Support Your Baby's Development

Every member of our team caring for babies has dedicated baby-focused training, so your child is supported by practitioners who understand this specific stage of development, not a generalised early years approach applied to every age group.

Each baby is assigned a key worker, who leads small group learning times during each session. This targeted approach means your baby's individual routines, interests, and developmental stage are known and responded to consistently, rather than lost in a larger group.

Daily sensory experiences form a core part of the baby room routine at both settings, supporting early exploration, communication, and confidence through touch, sound, and movement, appropriate to your baby's age and stage.

What's Included for Babies in Our Consumables?

Nappies, wipes, and formula are included in your consumables fee, alongside other essentials such as sun cream and sensory play resources for children under 3. This means you don't need to pack these items separately each day. Consumables are only charged on funded sessions.

If your baby is 9 months or older, you may also be eligible for funded childcare hours. Our guide on how funded nursery hours work at Wellingborough and Irchester explains eligibility and how funding is applied at each setting.

How Do I Help My Baby Settle In?

Starting nursery is a big step for any family. Our key worker system means your baby is introduced gradually to one familiar practitioner, and we encourage settling-in sessions before your child's official start date so your baby can get used to the space, the team, and their new routine at their own pace. Our team will talk you through a settling-in plan tailored to your baby during your showaround or registration.
